How to set up my email account on my iPhone Print

  • 24

Before you begin, make sure you have a valid email account and have collected all the necessary data: email account username, account password, IMAP / POP server address, and SMTP. For example, if you have the domain with domain name.ro and an email account, in the form "user@domain.ro", the username will be user@domain.ro, and the server addresses "mail.domain.ro", both for IMAP / POP and SMTP.

In this article we will explain all the steps required to set up your email address on Apple mobile devices, namely iPhone and iPad.

The tutorial is created for iOS 13.

1. Go to Settings.

2. Navigate to the Passwords and Accounts option (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, or Mail on older versions of iOS).

3. Click the Add Account button

4. Select the Other option

5. Select the Add an email account / Enter email account details option

Name: your name;

Email: full email address address@domain.com;

Password: the password corresponding to the configured email account;

Description: this is optional, it is generally used when you have multiple email accounts set up, it allows you to put a description to identify them more easily.

Click Next.

7. Choose IMAP or POP, depending on your preferences; then the server data must be added.

If you do not know which option is more appropriate, consider the following explanations:

POP (Post Office Protocol)

  • in case of setting the email account on POP, you must keep in mind that the emails will be downloaded on the local device, being deleted from the server;
  • if you intend to use an email account on multiple devices using POP, they will not sync and you will not be able to view the same messages; if you want such use it is better to use IMAP;
  • If you use POP, the messages will be downloaded locally and will no longer take up space in your cPanel account.

Internet Messaging Access Protocol (IMAP)

  • setting this protocol allows saving emails on the server, synchronizing them on the mail client and viewing them on multiple devices;
  • If you use IMAP, the messages will be stored on the server and will be used from the cPanel account.

Enter the data in the SERVER E-MAIL OR INCOMING MAIL SERVER SERVER section

Host Name: the host of the server or mail.domain.ro, where domain.ro is the domain on which the email address is created;

Username: full email address;

Password: the password of the email account; normally the field is already filled.

Enter the data in the SERVER E-MAIL SHIPPING OR OUTGOING MAIL SERVER section.

8. Click the Next button and wait for the verification, save the account. This process takes a few seconds.

9. After the account has been added, go back to Accounts & Passwords and select the domain on which you have your email address.

10. Then select the email address.

11. Since some more settings need to be made please select the account and go to the Advanced option (bottom of the screen); here you can check the settings for the Incoming server.

SSL settings: Port 995 for POP3 or 993 for IMAP;

Non-SSL settings: Port 110 for POP3 or 143 for IMAP;

Authentication: Password (required).

12. Go back and select the arrow> next to the Outgoing server.

Select the SMTP server used for this email account (if you have multiple email addresses configured you have multiple options).

Check the SMTP settings to be the following:

Port: 465;

SSL: On;

Authentication: Password.

For non-SSL settings, the SMTP port is 25 or port 26, if port 25 does not work, some ISPs may block this port.

The data required to set up the email account can be found in cPanel >> Email >> Email Accounts >> Connect Devices.

Save all settings and run a test to verify the functionality of the service.
